伊凡‧伐佐夫（1850—1921）是著名批判現實主義作家、詩人和戲劇家。青年時代深受波特夫的影響，積極參加民族解放運動，寫作詩歌。其中，《帕納鳩裡起義者》一詩成為1876年月起義的戰歌。4月起義失敗後，伐佐夫流亡羅馬尼亞，在此寫作了詩集《旗與琴》、《保加利亞的哀傷》及《拯救》。這些作品被稱為歌頌4月起義的詩歌三部曲。其中許多詩被譜成歌曲，傳唱至今。
國家獨立後，伐佐夫回到祖國，組織文學團體，創辦報刊，建立民族劇院，並寫作了大量的詩歌、小說和戲劇作品。其中組詩《被遺忘者的史詩》和小說《流亡者》藝術上成就最大。
